WHY RAP SHOULDNâ�™T BE CONSIDERED MUSIC

so ive been inspired by my boredom [and the fact that there are now so many random wannabe rappers requesting all of buzznet] to write a journal about the reasons why rap is NOT music.

NUMBER 1: BAD GRAMMAR DOES NOT MAKE A GOOD SONG

Saying a word like a two-year old does not make it sound awesome.

Examples: Buy you a DRANK, SOULJA Boy, etc.

Most good songs have lyrics where you can tell the artist had put a lot of time into them and tried to be personal about it.

NUMBER 2: THEY SHOULD TRY ACTUALLY PERFORMING "THEIR" MUSIC

All of the â�œbeatsâ� in rap songs are either computerized or created by someone other than them. Rappers donâ�™t play instruments on stage or in the studio. I think its sorta like stealing the music since they take credit for it but they didnâ�™t make it.

NUMBER 3: SING IT DONâ�™T WING IT

psh haha wow i just pulled that title outta thin air. lol. but what i mean is rappers arenâ�™t singing. theyre speaking and a lot of times its so fast or jumbled that you cant understand it. plus it takes little or no talent to stand on a stage and speak to a group of people.

eeh i cant really think of any more. any suggestions? i might add more later

So im being bored and all just surfing the internet, and for some random reason the thought that Jade Puget(of AFI) and Ryan Ross(of P!ATD) look freakishly similar popped into my head. i put their 2 pics together so you can see what im talking about:

HOW I MET THE ACADEMY IS...(pics)

Hey guys. Im really bored so I thought Id write the story of how I met The Academy Isâ�¦

ITS KINDA LONG JUST TO WARN YOU =)

But anyway, hereâ�™s the story:
My two friends and I had planned to go to Cedar Point on the June 7^th with a big group of people from school. So the night before we all hung out at my house. We stayed up all night watching TAI TV and random crap on youtube. Like that David Blaine parody thing where the guy says "What the f?" alot. Its pretty funny in a stupid way. But anyway we didnâ�™t sleep cause our bus was leaving at 6am and it was kind of pointless.

When got on the bus we zoned into our iPods listening to TAI the entire way (and no I am not exaggerating). Eventually my one friend, Tippy (itâ�™s a nickname), suggests we text that number from the â�œBig Messâ� video. I said okay but I did it just to do it and wasnâ�™t expecting a reply like she was. We texted them and she kept checking her phone constantly cause she was set on getting that reply.

After a never ending drive we finally get to the park. We rode a bunch of coasters in the morning and were devoting the rest of the afternoon to wait in line for the â�œtallest, fastest rollercoasterâ� the Top Thrill Dragsterâ�¦I think thatâ�™s what itâ�™s called?

So weâ�™re walking to the line and Tippyâ�™s phone starts beeping from a message. She screams â�œOh My God I got a reply.â� Emmalena (my other friend) and I look at her like sheâ�™s an idiot and say we donâ�™t believe her. I grabbed her phone from her and read the message which was somewhere along the lines of â�œCheck out The Academy Isâ�¦ and friends today on TRL.â� I was pissed we were going to miss it and there was no one we could get to tape it. We were calling everyone. Tippy finally got a hold of some girl who said she would try if her VCR wasnâ�™t being gay.

Now this is kinda hard to explain but the entrance to the top thrill dragster is on the right, the station thingy for the roller coaster cars is in the middle and the exit is on the left. That little info is kinda important to the rest of the storyâ�¦

So the 3 of us entered the line for The Dragster. We were standing there for a few minutes when Tippy suggests we text them back and apologize because weâ�™re at a â�œschool functionâ� and cant watch TRL. I just stared at her and said â�œAre you serious â�˜school functionâ�™ sounds so gay.â� Emmalena agreed with me and she suggested just telling them we were at Cedar Point. Tippy and I looked at her and said â�œAre you retarded? They arenâ�™t going to know what Cedar Point is!â�

So the three of us were arguing for quite some time about how they werenâ�™t going to know what Cedar Point is. Then I saw the line was moving so I pushed past the two of them to move up and I saw this guy looking our way. He looked really familiar but I was really tired and couldnâ�™t really put a face to a name but I couldnâ�™t stop staring. Emmalena noticed I had gotten quiet so she moved up next to me and saw who I was looking at. She leaned over and she said â�œHey Rach, does that guy look familiar?â� It was Mike Carden. But I still didnâ�™t believe my eyes. I looked around him and I saw Sisky, Michael Guy Chislett, James the sound guy, Jack the camera guy, and some tiny blond chick. I started tapping Tippy but she wouldnâ�™t look cause she was too zoned in on sending them that text message. I started hitting her harder and saying â�œItâ�™s The Academy Isâ�¦. Itâ�™s the Academy Isâ�¦, TIPPY!â� she finally looked at me and said, â�œWHAT?!â� I said â�œItâ�™s the freaking Academy Isâ�¦!â�She still didnâ�™t believe me and wouldnâ�™t look but when she finally did she couldnt believe it. *EDIT* Later she told me that she had been staring at Mike and he half-smiled because she probably had the dumbest look on her face.

They got on their cells and started calling people. I left my phone on the bus which was really dumb of me seeing I as I had the only phone with a camera on it. So we were all like â�œWhat should we do?!â� So I said thisâ�¦and I jumped over the poles to run back out the entrance of the ride. We ran past the rollercoaster station thing and into a gift shop. There was no one behind the counter so we just grabbed a disposable camera and waited for someone to come. I threw $5 at Emmalena thinking it would cover the camera and ran outside. I guess Emmalena said she didnâ�™t have enough so Tippy threw $5 at her and ran outside to wait by the exit with me so we could talk to them and get pictures. Emmalena came out about 5 minutes later and she said â�œThat camera was 16 freaking dollars!â� I said, â�œbut its definitely worth it!â�

While we waited Tippy called the girl that was supposed to be taping TRL for us. She asked â�œSo are you watching TRL?â� And I guess the girl was because then Tippy said, â�œToo bad theyâ�™re here!â� And Tippy kept saying â�œno im not lying theyâ�™re here.â� So I asked her to give me her phone and told the girl that they seriously were and we werenâ�™t lying. It was kinda funny considering the show is called Total Request LIVE. I guess its more like TR now.

We waited by the exit for about another 10 minutes before I said I was going to go look at the station thingy to see if I could see how far up in line they were. I started walking towards it when I see this lanky guy in black skinny jeans and longish brown hair leaning against a wall. I kinda freaked inside and walked back over to my friends so I didnâ�™t look like a bigger retard since we had already accomplished that by running through the park the first time. I assumed he had seen us since he looked like he was waiting for somone.

I said â�œOh My God you guys William Beckett is leaning against that wall over there!!â� They followed me back over to look. We walked up to him and I donâ�™t remember who talked to him first. But he said something like â�œIm just waiting for my friends. I got here kind of late.â� One of us said â�œOh yeah we saw them in line near us.â� I donâ�™t think he understood what we said because he asked â�œWait where were they?â� But I was too busy trying to get a lady to take a picture to answer him and Tippy was too busy drooling and so I think Emmalena got the lady and I answered him again. Its all kind of a blur because i was so shocked that I was standing next to William lol. But we got a picture and said thank you and walked back towards the exit. Tippy kept going back to look at him while we waited forever lol. You think for a ride that only lasts 20 seconds the line would move a little faster.

Eventually Tippy went and bought a $10 notebook so we could get autographs. Emmalena had to beg some mean lady at the Customer Service desk to give us a pen and promised she would only be a few minutes but we ended up keeping it for about an hour or longer lol.

*EDIT*Anyways Emmalena and Tippy went to talk to William and get autographs while I waited at the exit for the rest of the guys. Emmalena had taken a dollar bill out of her pocket and handed it to William to sign. According to Tippy, he gave her the strangest look but signed it anyway. Then Tippy said, "Emmalena, I told you I'd give you papers." She just looekd at her and didnt say anything.

They came back and told me they thought some kid threw up on the ride and they had to temporarily close it. But we kept waiting for another 20 minutes. I went back to look at the station thingy again and there was no one in line meaning they had left and we missed them. I was kinda bummed but happy that we had at least seen them and got a pic with William.

We heard over an intercom that the ride was re-opened and they said they wanted to ride it. I said, â�œAre you guys serious. I am not going to just leave these autographs and camera lying around where they could get like stolen or lost.â� They kept insisting that it would be fine but I didnâ�™t wanna risk it. I insisted we go and try to find the rest of the guys just for fun even though we would probably never see them again. They said they really wanted to ride it (and I did too but still not gonna risk it) and someone could just wait with all of it and we'd take turns.

So we we're in line outside the entrance and when we finally got to the entrance the lady said we couldnâ�™t take anything on the ride. So I stepped out thinking they were following me but I was wrong. They kept going and I guess according to them I looked pissed which I kinda was at that moment but I got over it and went and sat on a bench. I watched the crowd hoping to see them again but I didnâ�™t.

The intercom lady made an announcement saying the ride had to be shut down due to high wind speeds and people could stay in line and wait but she recommended they ride other rides. So I turned around to face the entrance thinking my friends would have gotten off the ride. I waited about 5 minutes before I stood up and headed towards the station thingy. I looked in it and didnâ�™t see them so I kept walking to the exit to see if I could see them that way but I didnâ�™t. So I gave up and headed back to the entrance to sit back down.

On my way there, I see this guy who looked kinda familiar. And it is, yet again, Mike Carden. I think I was staring cause he might have given me a funny look hehe. It was him, Sisky, MGC, and that tiny blonde chick. I let them walk past me a little bit before I turned around and followed them (stalker much??). I didnâ�™t know what to do cause I felt like an idiot following them and I had all this crap I was carrying and even if I did talk to them there was really no one to take a pic. So I guess I gave up and headed back to the bench. Right as I turned around I feel someone poke my back. I turned around to see Emmalena and Tippy cracking up. I screamed at them, â�œYou guys are such idiots. They are right there!!â� I pointed in the guysâ�™ direction. Weâ�™re lucky they were walking slow cause they hadnâ�™t gone far.

We walked up behind them but Sisky was talking to the camera which MGC was holding. We didnâ�™t want to interrupt so we kept following waiting for a chance to say hey. My friends went right when they went left to go in front of them and I didnâ�™t see them do that so I had to catch up (running through the park againâ�¦lol). We approached them and again..kinda blurry. I once again donâ�™t know who asked first but one of them asked if we could get autographs. Mike and Sisky stopped and said sure but MGC walked off with the tiny blonde chick. Iâ�™m guessing shes his girlfriend.

Emmalena was telling them about a benefit concert they should consider doing and Mike said to hit him up on myspace with details and he typed on an invisible keyboard lol. Sisky was surprisingly REALLY QUIET. Like seriously he didnâ�™t say anything except when we asked for autographs he said sure and I guess when tippy went to take the pen back from him she said thanks and he said your welcome. But she made sure she touched his hand because at HCT we were right by where they were leaving the M&G and she kept saying after that she wished she would have touched his Bulls Sweatband. Lolâ�¦donâ�™t ask. But she got her wish =)

I told Mike we had seen them on the Honda Civic Tour and they were amazing and he thanked me. Tippy drooled some more and Emmalena didnâ�™t say much besides about the benefit concert. So to break the sorta awkward silence I asked, â�œSo have you guys ridden many rides?â� I now realize I probably sounded like a grammar-retarded person because I dont think ridden is a wordâ�¦is it?? But Mike said, â�œYeah we rode the Magnum.â� I said â�œReally? We did too.â� I said that before I even know if we had. We rode so many coasters and I didnâ�™t know the names of any of them but I was hoping we had so I wasnâ�™t lying. Later I asked my friends and we did so Im safe lol.

They were signing our stuff and it was sorta quiet so Mike says, â�œIts pretty hot out today isnâ�™t it?â� You know youâ�™ve run out of things to talk about when you bring up the weather. We laughed and said yeah. Maybe because they were wearing skinny jeans and it was about 95 degrees?? Haha but I love them for it! Youâ�™ve gotta be pretty talented to pull off the skinny jeans in that kinda weather.

But anyway next I asked if we could get a picture and they said sure. I took the camera and told my friends to go in the picture. They seemed kidna shocked but I didnâ�™t really care if I had a pic with them. Just talking to them was pretty cool. I took the pic and my friends walked towards me. Sisky and Mike kept standing there so I asked â�œDo you mind if I get a pic too?â� They said sure so I got a pic all by myself. You could pretty much say my friends hate me now lol. But after that we said thanks again and they left. We all couldnâ�™t believed what had happened.

I found out later that The Butcher was there too but he was in the soak zone. Just another excuse for the drummer not to wear his shirt. lol

And the best part of the whole thing? I think we were the only people in the whole park who knew who they were. At least none of the other people we went with knew who they were and it didnâ�™t seem like people around us did either. Their loss.

the autograph: This one actually isnt mine. Its my friends. See i lost my William Beckett one =( Oh well.

Sisky is the one that says Santi above it. Willaim is next to that and Mike Carden is in the bottom right hand corner.

We were walking around later and spotted them again. Just think of this as WHERES WALDO but more of like WHERES SISKY AND MIKE? =)

Heres another WHERES SISKY AND MIKE?ha (the "HAVE A GREAT DAY" sign definitely applied to us but it was more than GREAT.)
